National Professional Qualifications

Applications for NPQ's commencing October 2024 will open soon!

Potentia Teaching School Hub is delighted to be working with Education Development Trust (EDT) as our National Professional Qualification (NPQ) Lead Provider.

All NPQ programmes are fully funded for any teacher/leader* in any state school or state funded organisation. Two NPQ programme cohorts (October and February) are delivered each year and full funding is available for both cohorts.

The DfE have confirmed that from the 2024-25 academic year, NPQ cohorts will start in October and April, rather than in October and February, with the final February cohort being February 2024 and the first April cohort being April 2025.

*the NPQLBC and NPQEYL programmes are also open to non-teaching staff

Scholarship Funding for NPQ's from Autumn 2024

Funding for autumn 2024 will target those teachers and leaders who work in the most challenging schools or educational settings, serving more disadvantaged communities.

You can find out more about which NPQ's are funded from Autumn 2024 and for whom, by reading the funding guidance report from the DfE.

Cost to Schools

As outlined in the DfE's funding guidance report;

  • All state schools will be eligible for fully-funded places on the NPQH, NPQSENCO, NPQLPM and EHCO only
  • For all other NPQs, schools with the highest 50% of pupil premium pupils will be eligible for fully funded places, as well as early years and 16 to 19 educational settings identified as having high disadvantage

If you are a state school who wishes to access a different NPQ programme to those above and are not a school with the highest 50% of pupils, you will be required to pay for this NPQ.

Small Schools NPQs

Are you a school with less than 150 pupils on roll? Then the NPQ small may be for you. The NPQ small has the same standing as the Standard NPQs but has been designed with small schools in mind.
