Initial teaching training (ITT) placements from September 2024
As your local TSH, we are delighted to inform you that from September 2024, we will be working in collaboration with the University of Derby to provide initial teacher training courses in our region.
An integral part of this will be school placements and teacher training. These would not be possible without your support and collaboration.
If your school is interested in supporting the next generation of teachers by providing ITT placements, you can be involved in 2 ways.
1: Provide school placements
2: Provide intensive training and practice (IT&P's) placements
More information related to both of these and offering ITT placements through the DfE guidance can be found here.
In recognition of the time and staffing required to provide ITT placements, we will be providing a comprehensive support package to schools in our area to enable this.
To register your interest in providing a school placement, please fill out our initial teacher training school engagement national survey
If you have any further questions, please contact us via itt@potentiatsh.co.uk

Maternity Teacher Paternity Teacher Project
As your local TSH we are fully funding places for schools in our region and across the East Midlands in collaboration with Spencer TSH for access to the Maternity Teacher Paternity Teacher Project (MTPT)
The MTPT is the UK's charity which specialises in supporting the parent-teacher demographic with workshops for teachers who are returning to work after a period of maternity, adoption or shared parental leave. They also provide group coaching to support teachers navigating parental leave.

Fully-funded for state school colleagues in the East Midlands thanks to Spencer TSH, Leicestershire and Rutland TSH, Potentia TSH and Redhill TSH
Join The MTPT Project this winter for our December Return to Work workshop - a highly supportive session aimed specifically at colleagues preparing to return to work following a period of maternity, adoption or shared parental leave.
During this 90 minute workshop participants will learn about their legal entitlements as returning parents and the best practice they can request from schools to support their return. The workshop offers the headspace to consider organisational logistics at home and at school, and prepare practically and emotionally for a confident return.
These are baby-friendly events facilitated by Emma Sheppard, Founder of The MTPT Project, the UK's charity for parent-teachers. Find out more, and claim your fully-funded place using the promo code EM23 on Eventbrite.
